Dr. Dess Pearson (from Australia)
I am Dess Pearson and after three decades with the Australian and South Australian governments in policy advising roles, I am a full time academic, teaching across several institutions in a number of countries, Australia, Singapore, China and Europe.
I specialise in economics, international business, international trade and investment and leadership and management. I have taught in a number of business and MBA schools. My passion is excellence in teaching and it gives me great satisfaction to see my students progress in their careers and lives.
Professional experience
1982-1993. Various policy and research roles with the Australian Government, Bureau of Agricultural Economics and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
1993-1997. First Secretary, Australian Embassy, Ottawa, Canada.
1997-2007. Various roles with the Australian Government, including Manager, Wool Trade Development, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
2007-2017. Various roles with the South Australian Government, including Manager, Trade Policy with the Department of Trade and Economic Development and Department of State Development.
2017-Present. Lecturer across several institutions, including Torrens University of Australia, Flinders University, University of Adelaide, University of South Australia, Ngee Ann Institute (Singapore), Nankai University (China), Australian Institute of Business and Kaplan College.
